Leoline "Lurlee" Zeller Smith

Leoline Zeller Smith, affectionately called "Lurlee" by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the age of 83. Lurlee was born in New Orleans, LA on August 24, 1939, to Edna and Milton Zeller, Sr. of New Orleans, LA. Lurlee will be forever remembered by her loved ones for her numerous home-cooked recipes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, James V. Smith; her son, Kenneth V. Smith (Donna) and her brothers, Milton and Martin Zeller. She is survived by her brother, Eugene Zeller; her daughter, Jamie S. Root (Bobby); five grandchildren, RJ Root, Kerry Smith, Ashley Smith, Amanda Root and Wesley Smith (Karah) and one great grandson, Whalen Root. She is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial gathering on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Interment at Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery will be private.
