Laurie Makofsky Lacrouts, who was born and raised in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 30 years, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the age of 61. She is survived by her husband, Marcel Lacrouts; daughter Lisa Harper (David), son Matthew Lacrouts (fiancée Rebecca); Mother Geraldine Makofsky; Sisters Connie Cannatella (Mike), and MaryBeth Bonin (Brett); nieces Jennifer, Michelle, and Lauren Cannatella and Caroline and Kate Bonin as well as many cousins who were very special to her. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Makofsky, and her grandparents, Edward and Elise Makofsky and John and Juanita Bergeron.
Her love for family and friends shined bright through all aspects of her life. She will always be remembered for her big personality and generous spirit. She never met a stranger. She cherished spending time with loved ones and creating lasting memories with them. Laurie was a lifelong football enthusiast and always cheered for her hometown team, the New Orleans Saints.
A Memorial Service will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana, on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service, which will begin at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Laurie's honor.
