Born March 29, 1940, in New Orleans, he was a son of the late Joseph Augustin and Ella Brady Roberts.
He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1956 and was the first in his family to earn a college degree in industrial technology from Southeastern Louisiana University. Active on campus, he was an initiated member of Kappa Delta Tau Fraternity.
He started at Dixie Machine & Welding, rising to Vice President and General Manager. Later in his career, he was an industrial and marine consultant. He loved the outdoors, often fishing with his family. A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and creating stained glass pieces.
For over 60 years, he was married to his beloved wife, Judith Lynn Blanchard. He is survived by daughters Angelle LaBorde (Mark, deceased) and Michelle Krummel (Anthony, deceased), and son Brett Roberts (Zenobia). He enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren, Matthew LaBorde (Brooke), Brittany Davis Stoudt (Patrick), Katelyn Davis, Annette Davis Kicklighter, Christian Roberts, and Bryan Roberts, and great-grandchildren Harley LaBorde, Madison Stoudt, Emmeline Stoudt, and Anthony Kicklighter.
He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Roberts Foley (Philip, deceased), brother Malcolm Charles Roberts (Linda), and sister-in-law, Melinda Blanchard.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Church and Shrine in Metairie, LA, on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. A private family inurnment will immediately follow at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
