Joseph A. Nuccio

Joseph Anthony Nuccio passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Sinopoli Nuccio for 53 years. Father of Deborah Ann Nuccio, Jerome “Jerry” Nuccio (Sharon), Carlo Anthony Nuccio, Frank Aloysius Nuccio, Lena Nuccio-Lee (Glenn), and his beloved Deanna Copping. Grandfather of Lynda Townsend Rios (Ricky), David Steven Townsend, Jr., Jason Nuccio, Lauren Townsend Navas (Michael), Julie Nuccio, Kaitlyn Townsend, Brandon Nuccio, Lorraine Lee, and Joseph Lee. Survived by eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Steve Nuccio and Anthony J. Nuccio. Survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as, many great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel P. Nuccio and Helena Macaluso Nuccio. Also preceded in death by siblings Lenora Nuccio Lyttle, Charles V. Nuccio, Philip Nuccio, Louis Jacob Nuccio, Frank Nuccio, Josephine Nuccio Cardanella, Eugene John Christian, Mary Christian Berry. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was happiest surrounded by family. He was a Merchant Marine and a professional boxer and later a successful entrepreneur. He was well known and greatly admired and loved by many. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road, on Monday, January 14, 2013. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00; Mass will begin at 11:00. Interment immediately following in Garden of Memories. Sincere appreciation is extended to all staff at Academy House and Cannon Hospice.
