Jon Charles Schneider, Sr.

Jon Charles Schneider, Sr., age 79, of Albany, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Frances Kosior Schneider and Frederick C. Schneider, father-in-law Joseph V. Housey, and mother-in-law Jean L. Housey. He is survived by his sons, Jon C. Schneider, Jr. (Blake) and Justin T. Schneider (Ashlee), and grandchildren, Jentry, Steele, and Camryn Schneider; his lifelong companion Barbara Schneider; sister, Dori Ruff (Tom); nephew, Tommy Ruff, niece, Kristen Ruff, and cousin Tom Kirkpatrick.

Big Jon was the ultimate handyman; he loved to tackle projects around the home as well as anyone who needed a helping hand. He had a passion for building cars, sailboats, and forts for his sons. Nothing made him happier than to see his two sons succeed, no matter the sacrifice. He was a dedicated father who never missed his son's baseball games, even if it meant driving 13 hours to get there. He was a beloved Poppa who enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. Jon loved working around the yard and being outdoors with Barbara. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved his witty humor and charm. His legacy will live on, not only through his two sons but everyone who knew him.

A visitation for Jon will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana 70006. Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM in the Leitz-Eagan Chapel.
