John Leonard Schmidt

John Leonard Schmidt, age 91 of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully at 11:02 pm on June 25, 2016. John was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 22, 1924. He served honorably in WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 350. He is preceded in death by his father, John Cornelius “Buddy” Schmidt, mother, Clara Harris Schmidt, and brother, Joseph C. Schmidt (Mildred). Brother of Dottie Keating (RT) and David H. Schmidt. He is also survived by special nieces Donna Holmes (Wayne) and Ellen Jordano (Skip) who were very dear to his heart. He also leaves numerous other loving nieces and nephews. He will be missed but always remembered by his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate his life on Tuesday July 5, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana 70006. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
