John “Johnny“ Poche’ III, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023 at the age of 83, in Charlotte, NC. He was born on January 3, 1940 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim Quant (David) and Kelley Wells (John), grandchildren, Lindsay Quant Darden (James), Leah Quant Johnson (Chase), Erin Quant Hyde (Will), Kerri Wells, Megan Wells, Janey Wells, and Ryan Wells, and great-grandchildren, Sam and Luke Darden, and Holly, Macy and Jane Johnson. He is also survived by his brother, Gerry Poche’ (Carol), sisters, Beverly Chapoton (Louis) and Sister Ellen Poche’, CSJ, and former spouse and mother of his children, Diane Dupuy.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Yochim Holmes Poche’ and his parents, John Poche’ Jr. and Myrtle Ketchum Poche’.
Johnny grew up in New Orleans and Mississippi. He graduated from Hazlehurst High School in Hazlehurst, MS in 1958, and then served in the Army for three years. After the Army, he had a successful 35-year career in the insurance industry in Louisiana, Connecticut, Michigan, Georgia and Virginia before enjoying retirement in South Carolina and Louisiana.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11AM – 1PM with a prayer service to begin at 1PM.
