James Paul Galliano

Born on September 23, 1942 to Mary Caravella Galliano and Martin Joseph Galliano, died on November 16, 2014 at 8:32 am surrounded by loved ones and his family. Jimmy was raised in New Orleans on St. Bernard and Miro; Hurricane Betsy destroyed the family home and he and his mother moved to Kenner. He graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1960. In High School, he was the drummer for the The Emperors rock n'roll band. Jim attended LSU and was a drummer in the Tiger Band. Jim served in the airforce, then he went to Moler Beauty College and became a hair dresser. He was instrumental in the legistation that allowed hair dressers to cut both men and women's hair. Jim was a teller of jokes and stories - his sense of humor was renowned. He was a lover of life, a caring human being who was greatly loved by all. He said to tell everyone that he loved them all, but he loved Brenda the best. Jim is survived by his adoring and faithful wife of 45 years, Brenda Edwards Galliano; his former wife Veronica Quirk; his sons Mark Quirk, Jason Galliano and Josh Galliano (married to Audra); his brother Gerald Galliano and his sister Mary Judice; his grandchildren Matthew Quirk, Emil Galliano, Petra Galliano and Sawyer Galliano; his mother-in-law Nellie Edwards; sisters-in-law Sheila Edwards, Jimmie Carol Street, Jimmie Sue Galliano, Muriel Galliano, and brother-in-law Joe Judice; also many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brothers Martin Galliano and Donald Galliano; Sister Carol Oestriccher; father-in-law George B. “Slick” Edwards, Sr.; brothers-in-law George Edwards and Karl Oestriccher. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The night wake will take place on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and visitation from 11:00 am until service time on Thursday. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.
