Ida Lee Miller Gerdes

Ida Lee Miller Gerdes passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, October 22, 2013 in Cartersville, GA. She was 89. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Harry Gerdes, Sr.; a son, David Julius Gerdes; a brother, Maxie Miller and a sister, Ann Miller. She is survived by her son, Joseph Harry Gerdes, Jr. (Kathryn); a sister, Emma Jean Sullivan; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Mrs. Gerdes was a longtime resident of Metairie where she attended Metairie Baptist Church for more than 75 years and operated a daycare from her home for over 30 years.

Relatives, friends of the family and members of Metairie Baptist Church are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
