Chic had a larger than life personality and deeply affected everyone he met, served, and loved. He resided in Ponchatoula, LA and passed away at St. Tammany Hospital after a hard fought 6 month battle with cancer.
Chic was born and raised in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans where his family, who call him Hayden, lived in half-a-dozen doubles all on Gladiolus Street moving to a new unit every time his father found rent a few dollars cheaper. Chic spent his working years as a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 39 working in theatrical productions and trade shows and was also the New Orleans Manager for Preferred Exhibitor Services, and he spent many years at Milne playground volunteering as a baseball coach.
He maintained his sobriety the past 27 years and was an active member in the A.A. community serving as a sponsor and mentor to many right up until the time of his passing. Chic was also a committed member of District 68 of Toastmasters since 2012 where he served in all the leadership roles including District Director. In 2015 he was the District 68 International Speech Champion going on to represent the District in the Semifinals of the World Championship in Las Vegas. Chic was also a faithful member of Celebration Church since 1996 having served at the Metairie Campus, the River Parishes Campus, and his last 9 years at the Kenner Campus. Chic was a life long fan of musical theater and performance art and he loved to sing “If I were a rich man” from fiddler on the roof, both very passionately and very loudly.
