Fredrick Armand Hatfield, age 88, New Orleans native bon vivant passed Monday morning Oct 3, 2016 surrounded by friends and family. His accomplishments include: Graduating Redemptorist High School. Serving during WW II, PFC. Co-founding the New Orleans Jazz Club. Exceeding his Electrical Engineering degree from LSU at Western Electric. Building his company Commander Systems, Inc. Teaching Computer Science at the Ohio State University, Tulane and Delgado. Communicating through Amateur Radio as K8VDU. Radio Hosting traditional jazz for WWOZ. Archiving the New Orleans Lafayette No. 1 Cemetery. Sharing his love of New Orleans his entire life through story, photography, tours, and the annual greeting of the United Kingdom’s Ken Colyer Trust tours. Member of MENSA. Honored most recently by Save Our Cemeteries Lloyd Sensat Award and Paul Harris Fellow Award (Westerville Sunrise Rotary, OH). Survived by children Heather (Dan) Linch and Heath Hatfield (Scott DuVall); brothers Charles (Carmen) Clark and James (Donna) Clark; nieces and nephews and their children; dear friends here and around the world. Memorial Jam Session to honor Fred to be announced, as well as interment at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
