Francis L. Duhe, Jr. “Butch” passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the age of 79. He managed his illness with great strength and courage and passed on with dignity, honor and respect. Now he’s at peace resting in Heaven and in God’s hands.
He is survived by his best friend Myrna, his loving and devoted wife of 57 years. He was the dedicated and protective father of Brian Duhe (Dolores), Bonnie Duhe Cochran and Bridget Duhe Miller (Kevin, deceased). He was the beloved grandfather “Peepaw” to Cameron, Kaleb, Brendan, Ashley, Madison and Sean as well three great- grandchildren, Nevaeh, Zackery and Leggio III. He also leaves behind his grand-dogs, Brees, Sadie and Henry in addition to his grand-cats, Lil Wat, Pebbles and Boots.
He was the son of the late Francis L. Duhe, Sr. and Esther Vicknair Duhe. Brother of Barbara James (John), Don Duhe (Jane), Terry Duhe (Tina), Susie Athey, Carol Olsen and the late Pamela Duhe and Glendora Ferman. He was the brother-in-law of Sandra Daigrepont (Larry), Aida Fernandez, Guillermo Castro (Dailila) and the late Milady Castro. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Butch was a veteran of the US Army National Guard 139th Signal Battalion and served six years. He was an avid Tiger fan and loved to attend LSU football and baseball games. He enjoyed riding his bike through the campus during tailgating to people-watch and savor the sites. One of the things he was known for was his cooking, especially his homemade pecan pies, roast beef and BBQ pork ribs. He absolutely loved his wife and close-knit family and would gather with them whenever possible. He always loved to party. He was the respected patriarch of the family, who through his hard work, provided for them and was there running anytime any of us needed him. A conversationalist to all that encountered him, no one was a stranger to him. He spread his wealth of knowledge to everyone he knew, most notably through his skilled woodworking profession. However, there was rarely a subject he didn’t know anything about. He had a knack for fixing most anything, but unfortunately, cannot fix our broken hearts. Time will hopefully heal. His nature, character, values and love will remain in our memories for eternity. Until we meet again ... “Catch ya later, be good”. Geaux Tigers!
Forever Butch. Aka Mother Goose
