

Emmett Joseph Haas, age 94, entered peacefully in his sleep into the eternal realm on November 5th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen Brandstetter Haas. Emmett is the son of the late Nicholas T. Haas, Sr and Mildred Koch Haas. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Alma Haas Hemelt, and his brother, Nicholas T. Haas, Jr. He is survived by his son, Emmett J. Haas Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. After service to his country in the National Guard, Emmett graduated from Delgado in electronics and began a long and distinguished career at General Electric. Beginning as an entry-level appliance technician, he rose in the ranks to become a trainer to the next generation of GE technicians. Emmett was a past member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish Church in Metairie and St. Patrick Parish Church in Baton Rouge. Emmett and Mary shared a deep faith in Jesus the Lord and were very devout Catholics. Upon the death of his wife, Emmett continued the practice of the Faith. While in assisted living, Emmett regularly attended the Saturday vigil Mass and was a mainstay at praying the Rosary before Mass. Emmett and Mary enjoyed a wonderful life together, sharing a love for travel and spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana on Thursday, November 17th, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial service beginning at 1:00 PM officiated by his nephew, .
