Elizabeth Grelle Smith

Elizabeth Grelle Smith passed away on June 13th, 2018, at the age of 90 at Our Lady of Wisdom. She was born on August 11th, 1927, to Henry Edward Grelle and Elizabeth Lehne Grelle of New Orleans, Louisiana. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of the Crescent City and a die-hard Tulane fan. She was graduated from Sacred Heart of Jesus School on Canal Street and was an alumna of Loyola University of New Orleans. Mrs. Smith worked for some 40 years as a registered medical technologist. She supported her mother, her son, and herself in her home on Ithaca Street in Metairie for many years – no mean feat. She is survived by her son, W. Reed Smith, daughter-in-law, Christine Parent Smith, and two grandsons, Erich and Conrad, whom she adored. Mrs. Smith is also survived by numerous relatives, godchildren, and friends. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the management and staff of Our Lady of Wisdom for the excellent care that Mrs. Smith received as a resident there for the last nine years.

My mother was an incredible, brilliant woman who persevered through decades of hardships and physical challenges but never lost her sense of humor, love of life, or smile. We will miss you Oma, may you rest in peace!

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3601 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, LA 70006 on Monday, June 18th at 11AM with a visitation starting at 10AM.
