Donna Faye Smith Legrand, beloved mother and veteran, age 66 of New Orleans, La. on Monday, June 11, 2012, with her children at her side, went peacefully to rest to her mansion in heaven. Born August 1, 1945 in Alderson, WV, she was raised on Curtis Drive in Gentilly and was a lifelong New Orleanian. She served in the Army and in turn earned a business degree with honors from Delgado. She is known for her many years of service as a purchasing clerk at Belle Chasse State School and eventually retiring from Waldemar S. Nelson Architects & Engineers. She loved sewing, gardening, making jewelry and arts and crafts, dancing and laughing with everyone. She is survived by her children: Gladys "Gigi" Legrand-Rouyer (Donald Sr.), Jessica Legrand-Harper (Darren), Benjamin-David Legrand (Anthony), and Elizabeth Smith (Brandon). Nieces & nephew: Dawn, Shawn and Michael. Grandchildren: Heather (Brett), Ashley and Donald Rouyer, Jr.; Jeanne, William and Jaime Harper; and grand-puppy Molly. She is predeceased by her parents Gladys LaGrange and Irven Smith, her birth mother Donna Ruth, her ex-husband, Paul Georges Legrand, sister Judith Raiford, and several aunts and uncles. A Celebration of her life to take place at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, on Wednesday June 20, 2012 from 6-9pm and Thursday June 21, 2012 with visitation from 10am-1pm with a Funeral Mass following. Internment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
