Diane Gail Vicknair Pickering, 74 years old of La Place, Louisiana, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was born on Saturday, October 7, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Joseph Beauregard Vicknair, Sr. and the late Elma Marie Weber. Survived by her husband of 47 years, Gordon Larry Pickering; sister, Elma Mae Fabre (Vernon); son, Gordon Chris Pickering (Claire) and their 2 children (Mila and Barrett); daughter, Christie M. Tregre (Glenn); as well as a brother-in-law, 3 sisters in-law, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her father, mother; and brother, Joseph Beauregard Vicknair, Jr. Diane worked with Larry as owners and operators of Pick’s for Paint for 40 years. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, making rosaries and jewelry, and spending time with her grandkids. Most of all she enjoyed exploring and traveling overseas with family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd, Destrehan, LA 70047 on Monday January 21, 2019 at 12 p.m. Visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
