Della Barone Cangelosi

Della Barone Cangelosi went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, LA due to complications of pneumonia. Della fought her battle with cancer bravely and was a survivor. She was 47. Della was the wife of Christopher V. Cangelosi, Sr. and is the mother of their three loving sons, Nicholas C., Christopher V., Jr. and Stephen Michael Cangelosi. Della is also survived by her father and his wife, David J. and Mary Lynn Barone; her brother David J. Barone, Jr.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley Fleuriet and Lawrence C. Cangelosi, Jr.; her devoted aunt, Carol Hennis; her uncle and aunt, L. Wayne and Miyoko Magee; her sisters-in-law: Nicole B. Barone and Lauren C. DellaFranco (Chris) and brothers-in-law: Stephen L. Cangelosi and Lawrence C. Cangelosi, III (Dawn). She was preceded in death by her mother Darlean Magee Barone; uncle and aunt, Thomas J. and Karen L. Magee and her grandparents: Hazel Reeves and Stanford Murrell and Rose Gottschalk and Pascal J. Barone. She also leaves behind a special family friend, Douglas Vandrell and a host of relatives, neighbors and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will follow in the Jeffersonian Mausoleum in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Masses or contributions to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Foundation, 2405 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121, Blessed Father Francis Xavier Seelos Center, 919 Josephine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130, or Catholic Charities of New Orleans, 1001 Howard Avenue, Suite 1000, New Orleans, LA 70113 are preferred.
