David Richard Smith

David R. Smith died on Friday August 17th, 2012 at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson of Complications from a stroke. He was born on May 14, 1928 in Oradell, New Jersey. He served his country honorably and proudly while he was a member of the United States Navy. His career of over 20 years included distinguished combat service in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His decorations include a Silver Star and Purple Heart.

After his Navy Career, David worked in management. Most of his work included managing amusement parks and concessions. He was the games and operations manager at the Pontchartrain Beach amusement part in New Orleans for several years.

David is the beloved husband of Carmen Smith. He is the devoted father of Luis Smith and his wife Delfina. He is the loving grandfather of Chelsea and Michelle Smith.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. Metairie on Friday August 24, 2012 at 11:00am. Visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Condolences may be offered at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
