

Danny Benefield, of New Orleans passed away on February 29th, 2016. He was born in Dunedin, Florida of April 27th 1950. Danny graduated from Dunedin High School and received a Bachelors of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy. He was married to Peggy Benfield for 24 years on June 8th 1972. Danny was a rescue helicopter pilot and assisted in saving many lives. He has flown to various locations from Connecticut, North Carolina, Washington and Alaska. During his career with the United States Coast Guard he attained the rank of Commander.After his retirement from the Coast Guard he obtained a teaching certificate from University of New Orleans. Math was another passion of his. He taught mathematics for 17 years in schools in Louisiana and Florida. He loved flying helicopters, but he also enjoyed sailing, kayaking and anything outdoors. Danny was a wonderful giving person who would lend a helping hand to anyone. He was a great “Mr. Fix it” there wasn’t a project that he wasn’t able to fix. Danny is truly the most unselfish person. He had a great since of humor too. He love’s a good joke or funny animal video any day. He leaves his children Sarah, Daniel, and Brian, his sister Rita Milavsky, brother-in-law Joe Milavsky, son-in-law Keith Vincent and his mother Oleene Benefield survived him. He proceeded in death by his father Dan Benefield. He will be greatly missed by everyone. We love you Son, Brother and Dad!!
