Charles "Chuck" Matthew Mele, Jr.

Charles “Chuck” Mele, Jr., 79 passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Chuck was born in New Orleans, La., on September 25, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara H. and Charles M. Mele, Sr. and by his brother, Mallery Mele.

Chuck is survived by is loving wife of 57 years, Harriet O’Neill Mele. Loving father of Dawn Perrier (Keith), Chuck Mele (Kellie), Barry Mele, Michael Mele and Rhonda Meyer. Grandfather of Robert (Anna), Steven, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Emily, Matthew, Olivia and Ava. Great Grandfather of Leighton and Ella. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was self-employed in the food industry after many years at Sunbeam Bakery and Commodity Credit. He enjoyed playing golf and softball. He was an avid Tulane fan. He was a member of the Senior Olympics, Cleary Golden Age Club and The Hoolie Poopers.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 12:00 - 2:00. A mass will follow.
