Ceredo "Mr. Johnny" DiFatta

Ceredo John DiFatta, WWII Veteran honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and son of John and Theresa Michel DiFatta, went to be with the Lord April 14, 2016. Known by so many as “Mr. Johnny,” he was loved dearly, respected as a hero, and warmed the room with his friendly smile and joyful presence. Following retirement in 1982 from the Maison Blanche delivery department, Johnny DiFatta enjoyed a 15-year career with Garner Gremillion Construction and contributed in a variety of ways to the community. He was proud to be an active member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His pride, passion and continued support for his country and its military was evident as he was a regular volunteer at the New Orleans WWII Museum educating hundreds weekly about the Higgins boat and his military service in the U.S. Navy. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Linda D. Gremillion; son John DiFatta (Karen); granddaughter Gina DiGiovanni Kunz (Matt); step-sons Larry (Deborah), Dale (Sherrin) and Brent Boten (Susan); step-grandchildren Larry, Samantha, Brandon, Ryan, Macy, Bailey, Madison and Blake Boten; step-nephew Gary Marino, Sr. (Deborah); and step-great nephew Gary Marino, Jr. (Susanna). Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, brother Joseph DiFatta, niece Diane D. Ourso, wife Pauline L’Hoste DiFatta, her parents Charles and Rosalie L’Hoste, son-in-law Garner Gremillion, and significant-other companion Gayle Boten. All are welcome to his memorial service and celebration of life Sunday May 1, with open visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie, LA; Christian service performed by Rev. Earl Hodges in the chapel at 2:00 PM and followed by a military burial at 3:30 PM at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
