Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 2015. He was 89 years old. Beloved husband of Dorothy Ulmo Kaul of over 68 years. Loving father of Calvin John Evans Kaul (Ramona), Cynthia Kaul, Charlene Blackstock (Henry), and Clayton Kaul (Rebecca). Grandfather of Carri Burgess, Calvin Kaul III, Amy Van Tassel, Henry Blackstock, Jeremy Blackstock, Clayton Kaul Jr., Elizabeth Rapp, John Barrett Kaul, and Peter Kaul. Great-grandfather of James Kaul, Tristen Blackstock, and Caleb Blackstock. Brother of Dorothy Ottoman, and Yvonne Kaul, and the late Jacob Kaul, Warren Kaul, Floyd Kaul, Marvin Kaul, Florence Havens, Helen Kaul, Hazel Kaul, Laura Dormoy, Mildred Falanga, and Caroline Sprauer. Son of the late Jacob and Evelyn Galpin Kaul. Calvin was a native of New Orleans, and was a proud combat veteran of World War II, serving as a Staff Sergeant. He retired from Illinois Central Railroad after 39 years of dedicated service. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 267, DAV Chapter 37, the Military Order of the Purple Heart 1955, and MOC Post 19 and the VFW Post 3267, where he served as a chaplain for 12 years. He also belonged to the Zig and Zag Square Dance Club, was an avid woodworker and cabinet maker, and enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife Dorothy. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Monday afternoon, May 18, 2015 at 1:00.
