Calvin, a native of New Orleans, was born June 15, 1929, to Albert Charles Cook, Sr. and Augusta “Gussie” Tucker Cook.
Calvin graduated from Redemptorist High School, Class of 1947. He married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Mary Leonard. They celebrated 70 years of marriage last June.
Calvin worked many years as a Purser for Delta Steamship Shipping Lines, where he retired in 1979. His commitment and devotion on how to provide for his family was not an easy task and his children can attest to his hard-working nature.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his two brothers, Albert Jr and Derrell, and his three sisters, Adele Eberhardt, Melva Helwig, and Joyce Cook.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Catherine Leonard Cook, are his son, Craig (Linda Hebert), and daughters, Janet Wirth (Dan), and Barbara Lenfant (Ronald Jr.). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Aaron and Jarrod Cook, Tisha Seghers (David) and Kevin Wirth (Breagh Derbes), and Kristyn Cuccia (Lucas Joseph II -Joey) and Kolleen Romero (Eric), 10 great-grandchildren, Riley and Lyda Catherine Cook, Jaxon Cook, Nicole and Kyle Seghers, Adam Wirth, Gabriella and Lucas Jerard Cuccia, and Caleb and Connor Romero, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Ochsner Medical Hospital, St. Catherine Hospice, and the staff of St. Joseph’s of Harahan Nursing Home.
