Benjamin R Katz

Benjamin R. Katz, age 96, died in New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Beloved husband of Miriam Barber Katz. Father of Allan M. Katz (Terry Katz) of Boca Raton, FL, Michael E. Katz (Jane Olds Katz) and Roberta A. Katz Sollender. Grandfather of David, Sam, Charles and Margot Katz. Also survived by 2 great grandchildren. Brother of Nathaniel Katz of Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Katz was a native of Erie, PA and attended the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to graduation, he entered the U.S. Army Air Force and attained the rank of Sgt. He was involved in several businesses in PA prior to moving to New Orleans in 1960, where he was a retail merchant. He was an active member of Congregation Beth Israel, local Post Commander and Regional Commander of the So. Region of the Jewish War Veterans of America.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Anshe Sfard Cemetery, 4400 Elysian Fields Ave. with Rabbi Uri Topolosky officiating. Kindly omit flowers.
