

Andrew Morris Weir (Andy) was taken to his heavenly home on November 20, 2024 at the age of 81. Andy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Robert Thomas Weir and Anna Mitchell Weir. He was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Bruce. He was the beloved husband of Nancy W. Weir for 56 years, father to Allison Westfall (Matt) and Andrea Ayalon (Etan), loving Papa to Emma, Evelyn and Eloise Westfall. Andy’s family moved to Wildwood, New Jersey and he graduated from Wildwood High School in 1960. He attended Tulane University and received a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in 1964. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received a Juris Doctorate of Law degree from Tulane in 1966.
He practiced law for more than 50 years. He became a member of Louisiana Masonic Lodge #102 in 1965 and was a Master of the Lodge in 1972. He was a member of the Jerusalem Shriners, 32° member of the Scottish Rite for 50 years, member of The High Twelve Club, The Royal Order of Jesters, Court 36 and a member of the Round Table Club.
He joined the Army Reserve 377th Support Brigade in 1966 and the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, which over the years included summer camp at the Pentagon and the University of Virginia Law School for JAG officer training. He served as Captain in the Army Reserve JAG unit.
Andy served on the board of directors for the Easter Seal Society, Lighthouse for the Blind and the Methodist Home for abused and neglected children.
Andy was very proud of his Scottish heritage. His grandfather, Andrew Weir, was born in Paisley, Scotland. His mother’s family was escaping from Lithuania to America and she was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He was a proud member of the St. Andrew Society and the Caledonian Society.
He was a devoted member of Munholland Methodist Church and was a member of the St. Andrew’s Sunday School Class and loved teaching Sunday School lessons. He also regularly attended the weekly 7 a.m. Men’s Bible Study.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our family, dear friends and our pastor Dr. Jonathan Beck and the entire Munholland Church family for their loving support, devotion and prayers during this very difficult time of loss.
A celebration of life service for Andy will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Munholland Methodist Church, 1201 Metairie Road, Metairie, Louisiana 70005. A reception and gathering will follow in the church fellowship hall.
