Alice Elizabeth Scanlon, 85 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, with her family at her side. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Paul Scanlon Sr, her mother, Maude T. Makem, her father, Thomas A. Makem, and her granddaughter, Caroline Marie Scanlon. Alice is survived by her six children: Paul (Judy) Scanlon, Alice (Gary) LeBlanc, John (Tina) Scanlon, Michael (Gina) Scanlon, Grace (Kyle) Hammond, and Ann (Roger) Baudry. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

Alice was born and raised in Philadelphia PA. She graduated from St. Cecelia’s Girls Catholic High School. In her early years, she was a homemaker and mother to her six children. In her middle years, Alice owned and operated Kiddie City Day Care Center in Metairie, LA where she cared for and nurtured a generation of children. In her later years, she was a leasing agent for Tonti. Upon retirement, she devoted her life to her family and her Catholic faith. Alice was a devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish with a strong love and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Alice’s greatest joy was the visits and love of her family.

Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 9am - 11am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
