Albert Martini, Jr. lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner of St. Ann Church. He graduated from De La Salle High School and attended the University of Lafayette. He was the director of purchasing at A&P where he won several awards, was director of Quaglino Tobacco & Candy Company and retired as director from the Salvation Army. Al was highly regarded by others. Those who knew him found guidance in the way he set a path to reach his goals. A special pride and joy was spending time on vacation at his summer home with friends and family. A strong bond was created with his grandson Joshua that can never be forgotten from shooting hoops, throwing baseballs, and finding ant piles were treasured moments. Some greatest moments were watching Debbie receive her nursing degree, Carly winning State for soccer at Mount Carmel, walking Ashley down the aisle to Brandon and attending Nina’s graduation at Loyola for her Masters of Science degree. Al was the beloved husband of Paulette Volk Martini for 51 years. Father of Cheryl Martini, Karen Guse, and Debbie Krajcer (husband, Stephen). Grandfather of Nina, Ashley (husband, Brandon), Jessica, Kayla, Austin, Carly, and Joshua. Great grandfather of Baby Hartmann. Brother of Robert Martini. Son of the late Albert Martini, Sr. and Jeanette Serio Martini. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Relatives and friends were invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., in Metairie, LA on Friday afternoon, May 13, 2016 beginning at 1:00 PM with a Funeral Mass that followed at 3:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Inurnment will be in Metairie Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were requested to be sent to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
