Albert William Belcher Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 29, 2017. He was 85 years old. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn Belcher. Son of the late Myrtle Belcher and Albert Belcher Sr. Brother of Jean Arieux (husband, George) and the late Lois Mock (husband, Joe). Loving father of Kathie Palestina (husband, Jay), Pattie Belcher, Karen Belcher, and the late Albert William “Billy” Belcher III. Devoted grandfather of Tasha Hanks (husband, Mitchell), Mandy Nguyen (husband, Du), Michael Palestina, Andreau Belcher, and James Belcher. Proud great-grandfather of Jimmi Belcher, Elise Hanks, Corbin Hanks, and Gwendolynn Nguyen. Uncle of Cynthia Tucker (husband, Garry Sr.), Ricky Mock, Wayne Mock, Raymond Arieux, George Arieux Jr., and the late Kenneth Mock. Also survived by his longtime dear friends. “Al” was a native New Orleanian and was a most recent resident of Slidell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Al was an electrician and retired from IBEW Local 130 after many years of dedicated service. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Services at LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Monday , January 8, 2018. Visitation begins at 11:00 am with a Funeral Mass in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
