Mr. Wayne Julian Gober, aged 78, passed away on May 23, 2018 in Sunnyvale, Texas. He was born on August 15, 1939 in Belton, Texas to Perry and Hattie Gober. Wayne joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and retired in at the very end of 1980. While in the Navy he was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal and the Sea Service Dep Ribbon. In his retirement Wayne worked for the City of Mesquite Animal Control and Johnson Control.
Mr. Gober is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Jean Gober (nee Williams). He is also survived by his children: William Perry Gober (and wife Karen Jan), Robert Wayne Gober, Deborah Nell Lanning (and husband Earl), Pamela Kay White, Brian Keith Gober (and wife Dawn), Stacey Dobbins (and husband Philip). Wayne also leaves 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory. He is also survived by his sisters Vera Polley and Vivian Taylor. Wayne is predeceased by Freeman Gober, Thurman Gober, Doyle Gober, Leslie Gober, Howard Gober, and his son-in-law Jeffrey White.
A visitation for Wayne will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christian Center of Mesquite, 4401 East Cartwright Rd, Mesquite, TX 75181. A celebration of life, officiated by Senior Pastor Kevin Lough, will be on Saturday May 26, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4401 East Cartwright Road, Mesquite, TX 75181. Burial will occur at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211-6702.
