Susan Aline White, age 76, passed away after a long illness on May 4, 2024, in Arlington, Texas. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 1, 1947, and was the daughter of D.H. (Whitey) and Bobbie Ruth (Craighead) White.
After high school graduation, Susan attended North Texas State University and Arizona State University, receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theatre (design). Susan’s lengthy career as a theatrical lighting designer in New York City, allowed her to work with many notable talents in fabled venues on Broadway and off and to travel worldwide. She was the lighting designer for the original production of the long-running off-Broadway and international hit NUNSENSE.
She returned to Dallas in 1997 to assist her aging parents and continued working with local theater companies such as Lyric Stage, Water Tower, and Garland Summer Musicals, as well as an administrative assistant at UT Southwestern until her retirement in February 2020. Susan was a dedicated dog mom and supporter of Operation Kindness.
She is survived by her cousins, Frank Craighead (Cindy), Brandy Canida Ponson, Cheraline Canida, and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at Grove Hill Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m. on May 16, 2024.
