Ruth  made  me feel welcome and at ease from the first time I met her. I remember moving into our off campus house and she came armed with a bag full of old rags and cleaning supplies. Her many invitations for dinners, parties and trips to Breckenridge always  left me smiling and full of the love and warmth she gave so generously. Ruth was one classy and kind lady. 
I will remember her always and keep her and Bob in my prayers.  They are two people I want to emulate.

You were a wonderful sister. I so enjoyed our trips together to see our Aunts in Montreal. You taught me so many wonderful things and I thank you for that.

We loved to play duets on the piano. We had a wonderful relationship and I knew you were very smart. Your giving spirit was very evident as well. I miss you already and so thankful for Kathy's helping us to be able to talk recently. 

I am so grateful for Steve and Kathy's tender care these last few years and for Jenny's loving, warm phone calls.

I  was home from college for Spring Break which turned out to be quite an episode in my life. Mom and I were sitting at the breakfast table and we almost came up with the same idea at the same time..."Let's get outta here and go see Aunt Ruth and Uncle Bob!" So, we packed up the truck with the camper on top and set out. We hadn't seen them in way too long so we took turns driving to get there sooner. For some reason 2114 Monteagle still sticks in my mind...we drove non-stop, which from Boise was supposed to be about 14 hours. I recall we made it in about 20 with the snow and all. Anyhow, Aunt Ruth seemed excited to see us and welcomed us in when we arrived. I was invited go visit a friend from college. Paul was at the Biltmore, not far for me to drive...the camper to the Biltmore Hotel?!? Ummm. I picked him up and we headed out to see the lay of the land. We happened onto a road construction area. It was a bit confusing as to which way to go, so I stopped to ask a flagger for directions. While asking for directions, in my side view mirror I could see a rock-filled front-end loader coming up behind us just before BOOOOM! We were sent flying when it ran into the back of the once-really “cool”  looking camper if there is such a thing! Needless to say, we were in trouble! I got all of their information and  came back to Aunt Ruth's & Uncle Bob's with the newly designed sideways "V" shaped camper. Uncle Bob to the rescue!! He knew who to call where to take it and get it all fixed up while Aunt Ruth just seemed to roll with it...okay, more like rolled her eyes as some here might have experienced with her. Well...it got fixed, we made it home, and no one knew the wiser! I don't know if she ever told that story, but I know she reminded me of it a time or two afterwards...shaking her head…and rolling her eyes. She was a great companion to her sister, (my mother), Edy, as they would take annual trips together, always coming back with the funniest stories - great memories!

I had the privilege of working for the McHughs for I believe over 20 years. I started out cleaning and then I had the privilege of being a caregiver to both of them. My time spent with them was some of the best years of my life. I am grateful to Steve and Jennifer for also treating me as a part of their family. I am so blessed to have called the McHughs my friends, they will always be a part of me.   Love to all, Sherry
