Rose Rena Dent, age 67, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1955 to Walter and Jessie Mae Bassett in Amarillo, Texas. Rose was raised in Amarillo, Texas and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1974. She married Donald Rae Dent in 1988 and worked as a Patient Care Technician in many skilled nursing healthcare facilities for more than 40 years.
In her spare time, Rose enjoyed singing, spending time with her brothers and sisters, cooking her favorite foods, watching movies, dancing, shopping, taking care of the people she loved, but most of all, reading her Bible. Her family and friends will always remember her as a person who touched everyone's lives that she came in contact with her love and infectious laugh.
Rose is preceded in death by both of her grandmother, Inez Thomas and Isabell Thrower; parents, Walter and Jessie Mae Bassett; sister, Gloria Covington; auntie, Rosie Block; uncles, Author Hopes, Otha Hopes and Eric Thrower, as well as several nieces and nephews that she lost along the way.
Left to cherish her memory here on earth are her two sisters, Linda Hicks from Amarillo, Texas and Inez Jhonson from Antioch, California; three brothers, Walter (Tracy) Bassett, Gale Bassett and Gary Bassett from Guthrie, Oklahoma; three daughters, Kedra Coleman, Natalie McGhee and Knoresa Davis; six granddaughters, Taylor Carr, Queliyah Coleman, Shytajeon Coleman, Aliyah McGhee and Jadaejiere and Jamoniere Carr; six grandsons, Roy Lee Carr, Shane McGhee, Fabian McGhee, Trevor Land, Dayvn Land and Thorne Land; one great-granddaughter, RosaLiyah Dezyra Augusta; several cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.
Rose Rena was a charming, loving, caring, independent and straight forward person who also mentored and instructed her family members on all aspects of life. She was a dedicated band member (lead singer) and performed at many talent shows. Her memory shall forever live on in the hearts of all that loved and knew her.
