She was born on December 2, 1959 in Albuquerque, NM to Margaret Carathers and
Durward Hamer.
Pam was raised in Mesquite, Tx and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1978.
She earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of North Texas.
She married David Hood in 1993 and the couple shared three children. She was a
member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Garland, TX. In her spare time, Pam
enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything. Her children and
grandchildren meant the world to her and her husband.
She also enjoyed going to the casino and reading novels. She was an illustrative
storyteller and sesquipedalian.
Her friends and family will always remember her as an animal lover who obsessed over
her dogs. She was a genuine, loving and merciful person.
She is preceded in death by her son, Sean Alan Hood; her father, Durward Hamer; her
step-father, Robert Carathers; her sister, Michelle Holte; and her beloved Grandmother,
Lillie Pack.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret Carathers; her husband, David Hood; their
daughters, Chelsey Anderson and Brandy Hood; son-in-law, Nick Anderson; five
grandchildren: Madison, Kason, Mason, Sean Maddon, and Izabella; sister, Denise
Bennett, and her husband, Breck; aunt, Betty Elliott; aunt and uncle, Sue and Tom Kay;
uncle and aunt, Dale and Phyllis Pack; many cousins, family, and friends.
She was a member of The Daughters of the King, St. Teresa of Avila Chapter. She was
a leader in the Cursillo Movement. She earned her degree in Rehabilitation Studies and
had a passion for helping others. She battled her disease for most of her life but she
never let it define her. She was fearless and forgiving with a gentle nature. She had a
wandering soul. She loved to travel and experience new things. She was a social
butterfly who enjoyed laughter with her friends. She was authentic and pure, loved by all
who knew her. Pam was truly one-of-a-kind.
