Mary Helen Ortega

She married Juan Salas Ortega Jr. in 1966, married 51 wonderful years. The couple has two children, Theresa Ortega Aviles, and Tina Ortega Santos. Mary Helen retired from Walmart where she worked for more than 14 years.

In her spare time Mary Helen enjoyed gardening, family cookouts, and talking on the phone to loved ones.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known as “G-ma”, Grandma and Lena.

She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Salas Ortega Jr., her parents Jose and Petra “Betty” Pesina; her brothers Reyes, Phillip, and Blas Pesina; her brothers-in-law Anastacio Villages, Carlos, Leonard, and Tony Ortega; her sisters-in-law Josie Ortega and Gloria Pesina; and her dog of fourteen years Lexi Louise Ortega.

Mary is survived by her daughters Theresa Ortega Aviles and Tina Ortega Santos; granddaughters Amanda Aviles, Alyssa Aviles, Alexis Santos, and Tiffany Santos; Son-in-laws Benjamin Aviles and Ricardo Garnica; her dog Teddy Bear Ortega; Sisters Frances Villages and Susie Ortega; Brothers Jesse Pesina, John Pesina, and Joe David Pesina; Sister-in-laws Anita Pesina and Juanita Pesina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mary will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A rosary service will occur Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A funeral service will occur Monday, March 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Divine Mercy of our Lord Catholic Church, 1585 E. Cartwright Rd., Mesquite, Texas 75149. A committal service will occur Monday, March 28, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, 12649 Lake June Road, Mesquite, Texas 75180.
