Mary Scutt was born on October 12, 1943 to James Peter Scutt and Anastacia “Nettie” Rock. She graduated from high school in Pennsylvania in 1961. In the fall of 1962, she met the love of her life, at a dance and after a short courtship she married Stephen Vincent Magyar, Jr. on October 24, 1964 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Bethlehem, PA.
Over her life, she was blessed with the love of a man of 49 years until his sudden death on January 29, 2014. The blessings of four bundles of joy, Stephen, Sonya, Stacy, and Melissa that made her smile when they called her “mom”. Their gifts of Samantha, Christine, Alison, Cameron, Tabitha, Casi, Leah, Jacob, Gavin, and Paisley that made her smile even more when they called her “Grandma”.
She enjoyed a career in library science that she worked in for many years and finally retired from Mobil Oil. During her retirement, she enjoyed the many blessings in her life and time spent with them.
She was an uplifting strong-willed spirit that put others needs ahead of her own, made others laugh, and was wise beyond her years.
Her life reflects the saying “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away” since she cherished the precious moments in life that she gave to others with great enjoyment.
On October 24, 2020 she will be laid to rest with our father, her soulmate, at the White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point, Texas where they can continue their dance for all eternity.
