Born on September 14, 1929, in Frankewing, Tennessee, Maretta Torrence lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends. In 1949, she married her beloved husband, Charles Torrence, with whom she shared 70 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. Together, they made a home in Mesquite,Texas where they raised their 3 children.
An amazing cook, Maretta delighted in gathering her family every Sunday for many years, filling their hearts and plates with her delicious meals and warmth. Known for her compassion, and steadfast love, she brought comfort and joy to everyone around her.
Maretta is survived by her children: Ricky Torrence and his wife Rebecca Torrence, Melody Allen, and Shonda Hayes and her husband Keith Hayes. Grandchildren Lachelle Morris and husband Jason, Nathan Hayes and wife Kaija and Colby Hayes. Great grandchildren Gauge Starrett and Zoie Starrett. Maretta’s legacy lives on through the family and friends who held her dear.
She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
