Linda “Gran Gran” Scott was born Linda Marie Stauffer on April 14, 1949 in Paris Texas. She was the second child of August and Doris Stauffer. Growing up she attended Ramseur Baptist Church with her parents and brother. She married her first husband and had her four oldest children and divorced at a young age.
Linda attended the Nursing Program at Paris Junior College, graduating in 1972. She scored higher than any prior PJC participant on her State Board Exam. She accomplished this while being a single parent of four small children. She had a long nursing career working in various areas such as in the OR, Cardiac, pediatrics and her favorite Labor and Delivery. She ended her career working for Cigna Health at a Pediatric Physician’s Office.
She married her husband Oliver Scott in 1981 and raised her older children together from that time. They raised her oldest grandson Anthony Junior at the age of 4 and when their son Lindan was born in 1989, they raised them as brothers.
Linda was given the name Gran Gran when her oldest grandson was born, and she was called this by everyone she met thereafter. There are countless friends of grandchildren and their children that know her by nothing other than Gran Gran. She loved and accepted them all as her own.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She never met a stranger and loved pulling off epic April Fool pranks. She was always the life of the party. She loved to get together and play board games, dominos, or card games with whomever was willing.
She loved to garden and could name just about every flower or plant on the planet. She had a yard full of them and loved showing them off when friends and family would visit. She loved to quilt blankets for all the newborn babies. But her greatest love was taking care of all the babies in the family. They were what gave her purpose and filled her life with joy. She was present for most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s birth. She could often be found babysitting various babies no matter who it was calling her Gran Gran.
Linda left us to be with her heavenly father on February 20, 2021 after a long battle with Cancer. Linda is preceded in death by her father August Stauffer, Mother Doris Stauffer, brother Carlos Stauffer and great-grandson TJ Boger. She leaves behind her husband Oliver Scott of Garland; children Anthony Ransom of Arlington, Angela Spicer of Asheville North Carolina, Rebecca Boger of Mesquite, Timothy Ransom of Mesquite, Anthony Ransom Junior of Fate, Lindan Scott of Lewisville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren spread across four states.
Linda was loved and cherished by all and will be greatly missed.
