Leroy was born on November 1, 1961 in Dallas, Texas to Leroy and Linda Rippy. He and his three younger siblings grew up in Mesquite, Texas where he graduated from Mesquite High School in 1980. Leroy was an E5 sergeant in the United States Army from 1980 to 1983. Leroy married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia (Cindi), September 19, 1981, and they had three children together. Leroy and Cindi raised their children in Kaufman, Texas. While raising a family, he worked as a facilities manager at Fossil, Foster Grant, and Goodyear. After accepting the Lord as his Savior, Leroy went back to school, earning a Masters in Biblical Studies from the Criswell College in 2007. He served many roles in the church, including ministering his own church. Leroy’s hobbies included hunting and fishing. When his children were young, the family spent a great deal of time at the lake. After retiring and having grandchildren, Leroy’s favorite hobby was having his family together and watching the grandchildren play together.
Leroy is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Samuel Rippy Sr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cindi Rippy; his daughter, Crystal Rippy; his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Stephanie Rippy, his son and daughter-in-law, Chase and Terra Rippy; grandchildren: Samuel, Nolan, Emma, Parker, and Allison; his mother, Linda Rippy; sister, Tami Gilmore and husband Gary; brother, Wesley Rippy and wife Beverly, sister, Suzanne Doty and husband Dean; fourteen nieces and nephews; and ten great nieces and nephews. Leroy was a great part of the family dynamic, and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral service for Leroy will be held Monday, January 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149, followed by a visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
