Larry Ray Thomas, age 67, passed away on November 10, 2017 in Dallas, TX. He was born on April 8, 1950 in Dallas, TX to the late Howard Eugene Thomas and Eunice Marie Thomas. Larry was raised in Dallas and attended R.L. Turner High School. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps for 12 years where he held the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, when he was medically retired. During Larry’s time in the Marine Corps, he served as a drill instructor, served at the I & I Staff in Tacoma, WA and served on the A & A Team conducting administrative inspections for the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton. Larry was an Administrative Chief with the 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division when he retired from the Marine Corps on December 29, 1986. He married the love of his life Laurel Day in 1976. Larry retired from the US Postal Service, where he had worked as a painter. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and playing board games and card games. Larry will be remembered as a strong and caring man with great mercy and for the honor and pride he felt at having served his country as a United States Marine. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard Eugene Thomas and Eunice Marie Thomas; sister Debra Jean Romero. He is survived by his wife Laurel Thomas; Brother Nolan and wife Debbie Thomas; niece Katrina Pemberton; nephew Timothy Thomas; aunt Teddy Workman; cousins Mark Wayne Workman, Renee LeCour, Tammy Reedus and Rita Reyna.
