Kenneth Kent, age 89, passed away on January 14, 2022 in Wylie, Texas. He was born on October 22, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to Aubrey and Ethel Kent. Kenneth was raised in Dallas, Texas where he attended North Texas High School in 1947. He married Pat Haygood in 1951, and together the couple raised four children. Kenneth built a successful career working as a Fleet Manager at Purolator for more than 30 years.
In his spare time, he was happiest being in nature and playing golf, fishing, boating, and taking care of the yard. He loved hanging out with friends and family, and spending time with all his precious grandkids.
Kenneth’s family and friends will always remember him as a man who could light up a room with his smile, and loved entertaining others with his jokes and stories. He was an animal lover, and his dog Zoe and bird
Rocky meant a lot to him. Kenneth loved the 4th of July, watching fireworks, and sitting beside a fire outside while talking and laughing. He and Barbara followed their passion for lake life, and retired at Lake Tawakoni for over 30 years; there they created many beautiful memories watching and feeding birds, deer, and enjoying the solitude and peace on their back deck.
Kenneth’s passing marks a pivotal point in the Kent family, as he was the youngest and last living survivor of his 10 siblings.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Kent; and daughter, Neva Kent.
Kenneth is survived by his partner in life for 38 years, Barbara Skiles; daughter, Connie Horvath; daughter, Janet Patterson and her husband Scott; son, Steve Kent and his wife Pam; 8 grandchildren, Patti Cantrelle, Jason Capps, Jeremy Beeson, Stacie King, Christie Miles, Teresa Felts, Matthew Beeson, and Miles Kent; 17 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Through the years, Kenneth was blessed to also form deep bonds with Barbara’s two children, Michelle and Michael, and bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
