morning hour on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Johnnie had a long list of illnesses that he had been battling
for a few years. Johnnie was always smiling and joking with anyone who would listen. After losing his
bride of 55 yrs in May 2OL2,he spent his time enjoying his great grandchildren. Johnnie was the
instigator in teaching the great grandchildren habits that could annoy the parents. His great
grandchildren could always depend upon Pawpaw to come to their rescue. Johnnie was preceded in
death by his parents, Johnny and Rosalie Hanna; his sisters, Josephine Hanna Green, Joyce Hanna
Beckham and a brother, Wesley L Hanna Sr. Johnnie leaves behind three children: Johnnie L. Hanna Jr.
(Skip) and his wife, Becky of Balch Springs, TX; Terri Hanna Burk and husband, Rickey of Mesquite, TX;
Kevin W. Hanna and wife, Tanya of Dallas, TX. Grandchildren are Christa Burk of Seagoville, TX; Carisa
Burk of Mesquite, TX; Jesse Hanna of Stephenville, TX; Drew Pelfrey of Arlington, TX; Autumn Pelfrey of
Arlington, TX. Great Grandchildren are Melissa Paige Galan of Wylie, TX; Ryan Creed Royal of Seagoville,
TX; Daylan Montrell Persley of Mesquite, TX. Siblings include: Herman Hanna of Richardson; Shirley
Foster of Mesquite, TX; Louise Buckelew of Garland, TX. Johnnie had a few different careers in his
working days. He was a bus driver for the City of Dallas for some years; He was a vending machine man
(coffee and candy) and lastly, he was a Security Guard. ln the 80's, you would be able to catch Johnnie
and Mary "Dosado" around the Square Dance floor. Johnnie had a true gift of making people laugh.
When the grandchildren were growing up, Pawpaw would always write little sayings and put in their
birthday cards, and pictures on the fridge. Johnnie was a member of West Mesquite Baptist Church for
over 35 years; he served as a greeter, an usher and on the Treasury Board for many years.
