James “Jimmy” Lynn Gothard, age 72, passed away on July 24, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on January 9, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Arthur Leroy Gothard and Jamie Evelyn Allen. James was raised in Dallas and attended O M Roberts, JL Long, and Woodrow Wilson from 1952-1962. He served in the National Guard for 6 years and ranked E4 SP4.
He and Emile (Kim) Mancillas were together for 42 years before becoming husband and wife in 1989 and between the two, they had 5 children. He was a warehouse worker at Safeway for 20 years and was a custodian for Mesquite ISD for 10 years.
In his spare time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He also enjoyed sitting outside in the yard drinking beer and horseracing and boat riding. He was also known for having a love for all his animals.
His family and friends will always remember him as a handful, loving, generous, stubborn and a very strong soul.
James had a lifetime membership to the Mesquite PTA and served in the National Guard where he became a sharpshooter. James was 5th cousin to Clyde Barrow.
He is preceded in death by his father; Arthur Gothard, mother; Jamie Gothard and uncles and aunts.
He is survived by his son; James Lynn Gothard Jr. and wife Susan, daughter; Jamie Lynn Mancillas and husband Michael, daughter; Dee Smith and husband Robert, daughter; Sonya Johnson and daughter; Alisha Maxey and husband Glenn, daughter; Kimberly Risinger and husband Trovous. Sister; Debbie Hefley, brother; Donnie Gothard and wife Barbara and brother; Eddie Gothard and wife Vickey. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Christian, Lane, Shayna, Caleb, Kristie, Amanda, Ashley, Jessica, Amber, Steven, Brian, Bradley, Paige, Erika, Danielle, Natasha, Jazzmine and James and 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
