Born March 9, 1945 in Taylor, Texas and went home to meet the Lord on April 17, 2019 at the age of 74 in Garland, Texas while she was surrounded by her loving family. Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Jose R. Garcia Sr., parents Mateo and Juanita Rodriguez and sister Augustina Alderete. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved children, 4 sons Joe R. Garcia Jr. and wife Tammy, Larry Garcia, Adolph Garcia and wife Maria and Chris Garcia and wife Araceli, 3 daughters Hermenia Garcia , Sandra Garcia and Irma G. Cerrillo and husband Homer Cerrillo Sr., 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brother Sonny Rodriguez and wife Silvia, 2 sisters Guadalupe Rodriguez and Ezelia Ruiz and husband Richard and numerous other family members and friends including her church family at Connection Pointe Church.
Church and the greater community was dear to Gloria's heart and her every day life. She cared for the sick, visited those in Prison, visited the sick in hospitals and was a genuine friend to the lonely and those in need and a mother to the motherless. She continued to sing praises to her Lord and Savior through the thick and thin in her life and no matter what she faced she always turned to the Lord for his guidance and direction in her Life. She valued education and loved to read and write to children and adults alike. Her strength, faith in the Lord and integrity continue to carry her children, grandchildren ,great grandchildren and friends and she will forever remain a pillar of elegance and strength to her family and friends. Although our hearts are heavy, we celebrate her life and find the comfort that only the Lord can give that she is in Heaven walking on streets of Gold and watching over us. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse (Ephesians 4:32) "And ye be kind to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you".
