Eunice “Kay” Terrell Tonnon was an exceptionally compassionate mother, daughter, sister, and friend who peacefully went home to our Lord and Savior on July 4, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1960, and grew up in Stamford, TX.
Kay was loved by many and always made you feel welcome, special, and seen. She was referred to as “Mama Kay” at multiple jobs where she made lasting connections and brought moments of laughter and joy over the years.
She helped her daughter, Chelsea, find her footing in this world by bringing her into the dental field to work alongside her where she’s found a true passion in it. They could talk for hours about anything and made quirky animal noises that kept their relationship uniquely their own.
Her son, Brian, always had the deepest connection with her and knew when she needed her children and they needed her. They could laugh for hours about anything and she gifted him her nurturing green thumb. He can bring any plant back to life.
She became a grandma first with her grandson, Bryson, who she attempted to have him call her “grand-mama” but to no avail. He would joke “air hug” when it was time to leave and she would always go along with it giving him an “air hug” in return.
Kay’s beautiful daughter, Lauren, found her through a DNA test just five years ago where she found she actually had 3 more grandchildren and a son-in-law. She and her daughter were able to connect and forge a sincere relationship which was a desire of hers from the moment she was born. Kay always wanted her children to share a resemblance to her and the moment she met Lauren, she was ecstatic to see her features so close to her own.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Chelsea E Tonnon and fiance (Emmanuel “Ray”); her son, Brian M Tonnon and grandson, Bryson A Tonnon; her daughter, Lauren N and (Chad) Roy, and grandchildren, Payten, Whitney, and Bailey; her brother, Clark and wife (Mary) Terrell, and their children, Iris and Emma.
Mama Kay loved her puppies as her own children, her birds that kept a lively tune, and had several plants that she tended to for years. Her favorite color was green and she enjoyed playing gin rummy and Skip-Bo. Pink roses were her most adored flower and she grew to like sushi over the last year.
We will miss you here on earth, mom, Mama Kay, sister, and friend. See you again in Heaven.
A Service of Remembrance for Eunice will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149.
