David Edward Hitt

David was born on July 27, 1944 to Marie Wilson Hitt and P.W. “Bill” Hitt in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from W. W. Samuell High School, he went on to study at Southern Methodist University.

In 1964 he married Patricia Monk. During their 13-year marriage, they had 3 children: Christi Hitt Reaves, Sandra Hitt Thompson and Randall David Hitt.

In 1965, David kicked off a 37+ year career at Delta Airlines. During his time there, he made a number of lifelong friends.

In 1986 he married Donna Heying and they raised their son Matthew Hitt.

Anyone who knew David knew he was a sports enthusiast. He spent years coaching kids’ sports. Whether it was his kids or grandkids or neighborhood kids, he was always at his best when he was coaching.

David was predeceased by Randall David Hitt (son), Marie Wilson Hitt (mother), P.W. “Bill” Hitt (father). He is survived by his daughter Christi and her husband Denny Reaves, his daughter Sandra and her husband Mike Thompson, his son Matthew and his wife Brittany Matthews Hitt, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In honoring our dad’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service. A memorial page has been created for anyone who wants to share a memory. In lieu of flowers, please considering donating to the Boys and Girls Club to help kids in the Dallas area.
