Charles Ell Smith, age 84, passed away on July 23, 2021 in Canton, Texas. He was born on September 8, 1936 in Dallas, TX to his loving parents, Tirey and Reba Smith. Charles was raised in Dallas, TX and attended Pleasant Grove High School. He married the love of his life, Sue Smith in 1956 and together the couple had one son. Charles worked as a long-haul truck driver, and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed watching Western movies. He also enjoyed traveling in their RV, going on cruises, and being on the open road on his Harley motorcycle. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music. He was well known for "firing up the cooker" to smoke briskets and ribs for friends and family. A favorite pastime was to sit in his shop, that he called Charlie's Bar, watch football and enjoy a cold beer. He could do carpentry work. He made dollies for the recliners in his bar to sit on so that his guests could move the recliners anywhere they wanted. He even made some custom tables that are in his shop. His family and friends will always remember him as a good person who loved his family, music, and a fun time. Charles is preceded in death by his son, Randy Smith; parents, Tirey and Reba Smith; and brother, S.T. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Sue Smith; sister, Valinda Apple; niece, Christie Schmidt; nephew, Ty Cloud; granddaughters, Cyndi Smith and Heather Martinez; great-granddaughters, Eryn Smith and Meaghan Patton; one great-niece; two great-nephews; three great, great-granddaughters, and one great, great-grandson.
