On Saturday, the 21st of August 2021, our loving mother, Granny, Elvis enthusiast and best friend, Bonnie Gail Vaughan Farmer, passed from this life to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ after a very short battle with Covid. Bonnie did not go down without a fight, she had more things to do and more stories to tell, but she has now started on "The Greatest Adventure."
Bonnie was born on the 21st of September 1958 in Dallas, Texas to George Vaughan, Jr. and Lela Louise Vaughan. She was raised in Oak Cliff and attended school in East Dallas. She married her sons father in 1982 and they had one son, Joshua. After her separation, she moved in with her mother, Louise and they became the best of friends. From taking care of each other to driving all around Texas and other states to do what they loved best, watching the best of the best Elvis impersonators. If you ever called the house and couldn't find them, you knew they were out watching a show.
Bonnie's number one love though was her son, she loved him more than anything in this world. If he had a baseball game, a Boy Scout meeting, 9/11 Stair climb or fire event, Bonnie would make sure that she was always there for him. When she found out she was going to be a "Granny" her world changed from that moment on, even though her health was not the best at that time, she made sure everyone knew that she was going to be a grandma and we know she would have been there for every moment just like she was with Josh.
She wore many different hats during her short but memorable life. She had friends from all walks of life, from her Elvis "cronies", the multiple volunteering positions with The Texas Rangers or the 9/11 Stair climb and all the other people she met along the way, she never met a stranger. Bonnie's family and friends will always remember her as a loving, genuine, never afraid to say what was on her mind, caring soul. She would do anything for anyone even when she didn't have anything to give. She always found a way to make sure others were taken care of before herself. Bonnie loved unconditionally, no matter who it was and never gave up on anyone, even if they treated her differently.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Vaughan and Louise Vaughan and brother, Ronnie Vaughan. Bonnie is survived by her son, Joshua Farmer and wife, Jacquelyn and her one and only granddaughter, Jaycee Mae Farmer; sister, Teresa Tidwell and husband, Kevin and host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and some of the best of friends that she called her family.
A visitation for Bonnie will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A reception will occur Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149.
