Achamma Mathew

Achamma Mathew, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Ramamangalam, India, to Mr. Kurian Ulahannan and Mrs. Anamma Kurian of the Moothedathu house, and had 5 siblings (John, Ulahannan, Annie, Kurian (Late) and Kuruvilla. As an elder sister, Achamma took on a nurturing role, helping care for her younger siblings from a young age.

She moved to America in 1975, and married Abraham Mathew in 1977. Together they built a life in New Jersey, raising two sons, Jason and Justin and helped pave the way to bring their brothers and sisters to America.

Achamma worked as a dedicated nurse for 45+ years and remained an active member of her church and local community throughout her life.

Achamma welcomed her daughter-in-law with open arms in 2010, and shared a loving, heartfelt bond with Nancy, Justin’s wife, whom she embraced as her own daughter. After retirement, she found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Desmond and Ayva, and relocated to Dallas with her husband, surrounded by close friends and loved ones.

Achamma lived a life of selfless service—through her work in nursing, her devotion to her family and friends, and her unwavering faith. She carried God and prayer in her heart always, leaving a lasting legacy of love, strength, and inspiration for her children and grandchildren.
