Zeta Marie Schaitel (Samson), 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Mesa, AZ on December 26th, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Glendive, MT on March 4, 1939, and was preceded in death by her parents Hazel H and Kenneth H Samson and her great granddaughter Sophia Stewart.
Zeta is survived by two daughters, Tamara Lally (Terry) and Tara Stewart (Don), four granddaughters, Leslie Travis, Kristen Whitaker (Casey Hancock), Ashley Stewart, and Jessica Stewart and two great grandchildren, Ethan Travis and Camden Hancock. She is also survived by two step grandchildren, Megan Lally and Ryan (Allison) Lally and two step great grandchildren, Jack and Emma Lally.
After graduating top of her high school class (Valedictorian) in Fairview, MT, Zeta attended Kinman Business School in Spokane, WA where she met her first husband Galen Hronek, father to her two daughters. After their divorce, 20 years later, she went back to school and graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a minor in accounting from the University of Montana. When her daughters moved to the Pacific Northwest, she moved to Renton, WA and went to work for The Boeing Company and met and married Kenneth Schaitel. She retired from Boeing in 2002 as an Employee Benefits Manager and Zeta and Ken eventually relocated to Mesa, AZ. Ken passed away in 2019.
Zeta loved to travel, read and spend time with family. She was also very active in her church and volunteered many hours to feed homeless families in Renton. She had a good heart and was always so loving, caring, and generous to her family and others. We will never forget you mom/grandma and will love you forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Mesa in early spring. In remembrance of Zeta Schaitel, donations can be made to Avista Hospice in Mesa, AZ or the American Cancer Society.
