William Toney Jr. was born to Annie Lee Scott (Grant) and William Toney Sr., On November 6, 1940 in Saint Louis, MO. He was the oldest brother of three children. He was proceeded in death by his parents. He graduated from Froebel High School in Gary, In. William united in wedlock to Melly Toney on June, 14, 1973 and celebrated 46 years of matrimony.
He worked at Republic Steel in a variety of duties ending his career as a Medart operator employed there for over 30 years and retired in 1999. He enjoyed watching sports and his favorite teams, the mighty Chicago bears, the Bulls and the non-winning Cubs until they won the series in 2016. He loved to talk sports! People who knew him would say he was a quiet man but had a lot to say, especially about life and sports. He tried his best to persuade you he was right, he always said “know what I’m talking about.”
On Monday, April 13, 2020 our heavenly father called him home due to natural causes. Williams’s life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife; Melly Toney; four children; William Orlando Toney, Tashell Toney, Darnell Toney, (Jovan) and Terrell Toney (Catisha); eleven grandchildren; Mykeisha, Ciara, Orlando, Tyjuan, Tayelynn, Chauntelaya, Trevan, Treshaun, Darne’, Terrell-William and Camden; one sister; Dorothy Mounia (Roulette); one brother; Leonard Scott (JoAnn); and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
